Reseña : 2007 marcó el 20 aniversario de la Comisión que informe GHBrundtland abrió un nuevo camino al abordar la cuestión del desarrollo sostenible como un medio de evitar una catástrofe ecológica. Esto dio lugar a una multitud de declaraciones políticas, documentos y artículos científicos, mientras que el Programa 21 - adoptada en 1992 en Río de Janeiro - ha sido aceptada por los gobiernos de más de 100 países. Tristemente, sin embargo, esto no ha impedido que ciertas tendencias peligrosas recientes, ni tiene el público en general, los periodistas, los círculos empresariales o políticos comprendido la urgencia del problema. Por eso es importante hacer de la humanidad comprender su verdadero lugar en el medio natural y la gravedad de la amenaza ecológica que tenemos ante nosotros. La función exclusiva de los ecosistemas naturales es un factor clave en el mantenimiento del equilibrio de la biosfera. La crisis actual es en gran parte causada por su dramático descenso en un 43% en los últimos cien años. Haciendo caso omiso de las leyes inmutables y limitaciones que determinan la existencia de todos los seres vivos en la biosfera podría conducir a la humanidad a una catástrofe ecológica. Este libro presenta las manifestaciones ecológicas, demográficas, económicas y socio-psicológicos de la crisis global y describe las leyes inmutables y limitaciones que determinan la existencia de todos los seres vivos en la biosfera.
