Piet started working al the DUT in 1963. already before he completed his MSc in 1965. in the division of Concrete and Concrete Structures and after that he joined the Materials Science and Mechanics Sections Being a research assistant in the beginning period, he also worked on his PhD thesis. which he successfully defended in 1973, Later on he became associate professor and was awarded a part-time honorary professorship at the presently-called Belling Jiaotong University in China.
